A personal problem turned into a solution

Mamasitter brings back an ancient, natural model in a modern form. The lack of free time with kids around was something we all experienced, and realizing we weren’t alone in this instantly connected us. What started as a small, local initiative has grown into an expanding network open to everyone.

I was looking for a solution to my own problem

Hi, I’m Orsi, the founder of Mamasitter. Freedom has always been incredibly important to me. Then my son was born, and I realized I had to redefine what that meant — especially the freedom of time, because that became the most precious thing.

At first, I believed I just had to be “smarter” about it. I was convinced there was enough time for everything if I just optimized my calendar better, became more efficient, divided tasks differently between us. Then I had to face it: with a small child, good time management alone isn’t going to save the day.

“It was during this intense, solution-seeking phase that I first heard about parents who organize childcare for each other. It sounded brilliant at first: this is how things always used to work!”

I knew that what sounds perfect in theory can easily fall apart in reality. After a few days of thinking, I floated the idea in a local moms’ group. To my surprise, tons of people were interested. Turns out, we were all struggling with the exact same problem, and everyone was looking for a solution.

We set up a framework in a small group and started testing it. Even though the kids were still very young, they took to it surprisingly well, and for us moms, the system was a huge help.

Since I’d worked in digital product development before, I immediately wanted to build an app to make the organizing easier. The first version of the Mamasitter app was literally born from this community. Those stolen hours I spent building the system were made possible by the moms in my circle: while I worked in one room, they played with my son in the other.

The system brought enormous benefits to all of us. Some could take on 1–2 freelance projects, others finally got to yoga. Theater nights, concerts, and grown-up dinners came back — and eventually, the kids started having their own sleepover pajama parties.

When I saw how much freedom this gave our little group, I knew we couldn’t keep it to ourselves. Mamasitter was born so that this solution could be available to every mom.

Our story

2022November

The idea is born

When I realized that perfect time management alone wasn’t going to save me, I threw the babysitting exchange idea into a local moms’ group. I figured, let’s see what happens. Turns out: tons of us were struggling with the lack of me-time. A few brave moms joined forces, and we launched our first, completely “analog” test circle.

2023

From experiment to platform

Practice proved that the babysitting exchange works: the kids were flexible, and we became freer. To keep the organizing and hour-tracking from straining our relationships, the Mamasitter app was built. Everything we learned firsthand about needs, trust, and what works and what doesn’t was baked into the system.

2025December

One Foundation Digital Award – 1st place

It was a huge validation when Mamasitter won 1st place at the One Foundation “Digitizing Communities” award. The expert jury saw in the project what we lived every day: a real societal answer to parents’ problems.

2026

The platform goes public

After the success of local test circles, Mamasitter is becoming available nationwide. With a completely redesigned interface and new features, we’re preparing to rebuild that supportive network around as many moms as possible. Mamasitter is also a proud member of the Start it @K&H accelerator program’s 2026 cohort.

Our mission

Today, moms get wonderful help from so many places on how to raise their children well. The focus — understandably — is almost always on the child and the task.

Mamasitter’s mission is to redirect attention back to the mom — to the woman who does all of this, every single day.

Our goal is to give moms those few hours where they can safely set down the “mom” role and simply come back to themselves. A space where they can rediscover what recharges them, what fills them up, and how to find a new, livable balance between their own desires and their family.

Mamasitter provides the stable foundation for that.
